Heimtextil Blog

b&d With the colourful foutas, scarves and blankets from bb&dd based in Frankfurt am Main and La Manouba in Tunisia, consumers can introduce a touch of Oriental lifestyle and aesthetics into their everyday life. The aim of the two entrepreneurs on the two continents is to promote traditional arts and crafts through the sale of products made of high-quality cotton and silk.

In their case, these products are hand-woven fabrics, all of which have a story to tell. Thus, the fouta – the traditional bath towel used in a hammam – reports from the everyday life of people in Tunisia where fouta has a variety of uses, e.g., as a kerchief, shawl or blanket. On festive occasions, it is worn as an accessory, like an article of clothing, and is likely to be embroidered with gold and silver threads.

It is an integral part of everyday life in Tunisia and Aida Ben Achour and Nabil Oueslati want to bring a little piece of this to the ‘rest of the world’ with products distinguished by top quality, versatility and beauty. The assortment is carefully colour-matched; there are no patterns only stripes and different weaves. Foutas form the core of the collection and they reflect very clearly the great love with which these traditional products are made. And they give no less pleasure at the pool or on the beach than in the hammam or sauna. They are guaranteed to inject lots of colour and joie de vivre into everyday life. Moreover, thanks to their fine weave, foutas take up little space and are light, which makes them ideal travelling companions or for use in the contract sphere.

bb&dd is taking part in the “New & Next” section in hall 9.0 at the coming Heimtextil.
