CAMPUS: presenting young designers
17 universities are presenting their work at the CAMPUS area of this year’s Heimtextil (Hall 4.2, Stand H73). They come from Brazil, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland – and all visitors should take this opportunity to see the wonderful ideas of these young designers from all over the world. This is not only inspiring and motivating. It can also induce a veritable moment of great happiness. As an example of what is to be seen, let’s take a brief look at the project of the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, which, in a wonderful and artistic way, demonstrates not only the subjects of time, nature and transience but also the workmanship of the participants. 16 students from Helsinki spent a semester working on the subject of ‘Time Unseen’. Although their individual works could hardly be more different, they all have one thing in common: the students went outdoors to seek the signs of the time and the changes wrought. They seem to have discovered evidence of this in tree bark, stones, leaves and even ice, and then implemented their findings in their textile projects, which exude great sensitivity and creativity, as well as concern about the environment. It’s good that these young people draw more attention in the world to this with their criticism, their skills and their individual works. Please don’t miss their presentation!
Campus can be found in Hall 4.2, Stand H 73.
