Christian Fischbacher 200 years old
A success story of Swiss textile tradition
The Swiss textile company is one of the world’s oldest family-run companies in the sector. Christian Fischbacher has been making luxurious and aesthetically outstanding home textiles since 1819. The love of detail, a deeply rooted passion for the quality and beauty of materials and the drive for creative innovations come together in Christian Fischbacher’s products as a fascinating whole – since time immemorial.
When Christian Fischbacher founded the company in 1819, he was just 16 years old and had a vision: to produce high-quality textiles for a discerning clientele throughout the world. In the 1930s, his grandson Otto Fischbacher took over the company and his son, Christian Fischbacher IV, emigrated to the USA where he founded the first subsidiary, Fisba Fabrics. This was followed over the decades by subsidiaries in many European countries. Since the seventies, Fischbacher has also been represented in Japan.
Following Christian Fischbacher V, the family company is now run by his son Michael and his wife Camilla Fischbacher. They met as undergraduates in Oxford before he took over as CEO and she became art director. At home throughout the world, both radiate personality and this is doubtless one of the reasons why Fischbacher is still so successful today. The fabrics, carpets, duvets, pillows, bed linen and accessories are created in the company’s own design studio and made to the highest standards. All are perfect for lending interiors that certain charisma – not just for a season but for a lifetime.
Created to celebrate Fischbacher’s 200th anniversary, this collection not only presents wonderful textile art but also refers to many of the company’s textile innovations from past decades. Drawing on the finest materials in gold, silver and metallic shades, the collection is made using a wide variety of production techniques, from traditional to innovative.
