Design live: New fabrics made by Simone Meentzen
Original fabric designs by new Berlin-based studio Simone Meentzen are among the fabric displays that visualise new directions in interior and textile design at Heimtextil 2014. Several of her handcrafted samples have been selected by the Heimtextil trend team and can be viewed at the Trend Show in Forum 0. Simone Meentzen presents her new samples at “Design live” at hall 4.2, stand H65.
A Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design London Graduate, Simone Meentzen has worked with London based textile studios for many years. There she specialized in developing exclusive pre-seasonal designs for various international high-end fashion and textile clients. Customers appreciate her eclectic handmade designs with fine details and inspiring colour combinations for contemporary home textiles, weave and wallpaper collections. Artwork ranges from delicate illustrative leaf motifs, bold graphic abstract print pattern to subtle folkloric embroidery designs. With a wealth of inspiration from around the world, the designer is also inspired by the best tried and tested classic and vintage styles: „My designs are influenced by nature, the elements, fantasy, magic, mystery, mythology, mavericks, poetry, handmade folk objects, tribes, travels, synchronicity, sensitivity, surrealism, romanticism.“
Now living and working in Berlin, Simone Meentzen is not only a resourceful textile designer and consultant. She teaches trend analysis for fashion and textiles at university HTW Berlin, always passionate for unique interpretations of the latest trends and a focus on renewing traditional craft techniques.
