Digital printing on textiles makes considerable progress
There are outstanding prospects for the product group ‘Digital Print’. At Heimtextil, there will, for the fourth time in a row, be more exhibitors showcasing their innovations for digital textile printing over more floor space. To date, 19 companies have signed up for a stand in Hall 4.0 (2015: 16 exhibitors). The sector’s market leaders will be exhibiting their new products over an area of 1000 square metres. They include Durst, Epson, Hewlett-Packard, Kornit, Mimaki, MS Printing Solutions, Reggiani and Xeikon. Amongst others, Heimtextil will also welcome as new exhibitors Fotoba International and J-Teck3 from Italy as well as Pigment Inc. from Australia. To accompany the show, the WTiN publishing company will be organising the ‘European Digital Textile Conference’.
“Carried by technological innovation, digital printing is one of the major growth segments within the textile industry. The sector is assuming double digit growth in the coming years. Numerous manufacturers of home and contract textiles are already using digital printing techniques for their new collections,” says Ulrike Wechsung, Director of Heimtextil. “With the ‘Digital Print’ product area in Hall 4.0, we are again offering the largest platform for communication and new products, aimed at designers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers in this segment. Amongst the innovations are new water-based ink systems for inspiring designs, apps for specific control of design and production processes, as well as procedures for the depiction of guaranteed colours from monitor to end product.”
Amongst the new exhibitors are also Kiian Digital, a leading manufacturer of inks for digital print. The Italian company – one of the brands of the JK Group – will be presenting, at Heimtextil, water-based sublimation and pigment inks for direct and transfer printing. These inks stand out because of their high concentration of colour and environmental acceptability. “Heimtextil is the biggest show for the home and contract textiles industry. Interest for digital printing from this market segment is growing as digital printing enables customization and short runs, at the same time satisfying the textile industry standards”, says Martin Swift, Marketing & Corporate Development Director at the JK Group. “Kiian Digital has a dual presence, being present both at the Digital Textile Conference and at the show. Both events will provide the opportunity to interact with new and existing customers.”
Third European Digital Textile Conference in Hall 4.0
The European Digital Textile Conference will be taking place for the third time and will be held on the first day of the show (Tuesday) in the ‘Europa’ room in Hall 4.0. Organised by the publishers of the magazine ‘Digital Textile’, the conference, which will be conducted in English, presents an up-to-the-minute overview of new technologies, market opportunities and areas of application for textile printing in the home-textiles industry. This year, the emphasis will be on the speed, quality and sustainability of the next generation of digital printers. Well-known exhibitors have already signed up to give exclusive lectures.
“The digital textile printing community is very excited about the opportunities for growth in home textiles. This is still quite a new development. However, since digital printing became established as a feature within Heimtextil there has been intensive research and development, especially in digital pigment inks for high-productivity applications, whose availability is so important if the technology is to gain ground in this sector”, says John Scrimshaw, Editor-in-Chief of the ‘Digital Textile’ magazine. “The WTiN European Digital Textile Conference will reflect this progress and place it in a context relevant to the buyers and sourcing people who regularly attend Heimtextil.”
