Heimtextil Trend preview: new themes point the way to the 2013/14 season
Curtain up on the new Heimtextil Trend: Stijlinstituut Amsterdam gave a preview of the 2013/2014 season on behalf of the Heimtextil Trendtable. During the Tendence trade fair, Anne Marie Commandeur, designer and CEO of Stijlinstituut Amsterdam, presented the new Heimtextil Trend Book, ‘Being’, in the ‘Portalhaus’ of Messe Frankfurt on 24 August 2012. Heimtextil exhibitors, designer, furnishing specialists and interior decorators took advantage of this opportunity to discover the latest design developments around four and a half months before Heimtextil 2013 opens its doors (9 to 12 January 2013).
“Stijlinstituut Amsterdam and the Trendtable designers have created an impressive work of reference that will be a first-class source of inspiration and guideline for the international sector. We can look forward to a fantastic Trend Show with lots of surprising elements at Heimtextil 2013”, says a delighted Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies, Messe Frankfurt. At the fair in January 2013, the new trend themes will be visualised in an elaborate special show in Forum 0.
You are how you live
The new Trend Book comprises four themes, each illustrated by a striking character. Under the motto, ‘You are how you live’, the trend experts have created four personalities, all of whom have their own unequivocal concept of life and being. The result is four completely different characters – the historian, the eccentric, the inventor and the geologist – whereby the home is seen as an important aspect of their individual makeup. At the same time, attention is paid to the emotional impact of interior-design changes. The challenge is to find solutions that improve the home and our way of life.
The 2013/2014 Trend Book – ‘Being’
Entitled ‘Being’, the Heimtextil Trend Book for 2013/2014 reflects the thoughts, ideas, inspiration, theses and statements of the members of the Trendtable in a compact and informative way. Avant-garde projects from the fields of interior design, architecture, fashion, design and art are presented to illustrate this. “Heimtextil Trends 2013/2014 concentrate on concepts we all feel emotionally connected to”, says Anne Marie Commandeur. “We aim to create spaces with character and address intimate inspirations, personal aspirations as well as practical needs.”
Heimtextil: special function as a trend barometer
As the world’s biggest trade fair for home and contract textiles, Heimtextil has a special function as a trend barometer and benchmark for high-grade textiles distinguished by first-class design and innovative functionality. Accordingly, Messe Frankfurt launched the Heimtextil Trend back in 1991. Since then, the annual Trendtable of international experts has compiled the most important general trends to provide valuable orientation and reliable predictions for product developers, creative teams, furnishing specialists and designers. Every year, a different member of the Trendtable assumes responsibility for the interpretation of the Heimtextil Trend. Now, it is the turn of Stijlinstituut Amsterdam to breathe life into the trends for 2013/2014.
