In an era of screw top and glass stoppers for wine bottles, cork has found another application in the field of interior design. Jörg Eigenmann, Inhaber & CEO of Coverdec.one is an experienced hotel furnisher. With his cork products for furniture, walls and other surfaces, he presents a number of new products in the Interior.Architecture.Hospitality area in hall 4.2, E74.
The natural properties of cork are flame retardant, sound absorbing, minimally abrasive, climate regulating and many more. Cork also seems to be suitable for allergy sufferers and is a very pleasant surface material thanks to its warm, soft feel. Jörg Eigenmann offers cork in the form of exquisite wall coverings or quilted panels. Cork is a renewable resource: every nine years, a cork oak is peeled and the raw material is extracted in this way – without the trees being felled. Jörg Eigenmann has chosen China as the company’s site for purchasing and production. The cork product designs are called “Ola noche”, “Ola” and “Linea” and the maximum format is 130 x 200 centimetres for the panels. Cork is definitely an alternative option to real leather or felt when it comes to sound insulation. And Jörg Eigenmann is more than happy to explain all the possible uses of cork in the contract sector.
