Textile design from Japan: Shinrindo
Tradition meets modern
The combination of traditional Japanese kimono motifs and European design forms the basis of the collection by Shinrindo. This group of young designers and entrepreneurs has, since 2014, been devoting itself to designing textiles, as well as kimonos. The designs are basically conceived for textiles – yet the feedback from visitors to their stand at Heimtextil has inspired these young Japanese designers to begin thinking further along the lines of wall coverings, too.
The company is exhibiting at Heimtextil for the first time. The mix of their profound commitment to the Japanese tradition of kimono design and the opening up to western ideas is seen by the group as both an opportunity and an individuating feature at one and the same time. Inter-cultural design for fabrics, wallpaper and kimonos: that certainly is an exciting mixture!
Shinrindo are exhibiting in Hall 4.2, Stand H87.
